Confirmed Service Customer
On 02/12/2024 I brought my 2022 Colorado (mileage 11,780) in for service because for several weeks, when putting the vehicle into Park, turning off the ignition, more and more frequently the key would not release from the ignition. I was having to restart the engine, move the vehicle, shut off engine, and try to remove key - often several times before the key would release. Castrucci service techs were unable to duplicate the problem, so no work was done. The problem persisted for me over the following week. Twice I had to leave the Colorado parked, leaving it with the key in the ignition (with doors locked). I called Castrucci, talking with the service manager, John Whitaker. He agreed to personally check my Colorado, so we set a date for my return. On 02/23/2024 I returned... and the problem immediately occurred for him and for another service adviser he called out to confirm. Bulletin PIT5880 indicated that this problem is most likely an INTERNAL SHIFTER ISSUE. Dealer had this SHIFTER in stock, and replaced it (under warranty) in about 1-1/2 hours, and I left this time as a very satisfied customer !!
